To me this could be a your skin but better scent because it has a saltiness from the chestnut that mixes beautifully with the whipped cream and vanilla that makes it like a second skin and it smells absolutely gorgeous! In the opening I get a lot of the tuberose, red lily and pink pepper but the magic happens when it dries down and it smells somewhat like a luxurious sun-tan lotion. It is creamy, strong, and assertive. My body chemistry (hormonal Im guessing :p must have changed somehow as I am starting to really enjoy and appreciate many other scents I used to hate as well. Lasts all night and day. Its nothing like a black or velvet orchid which I also love but this one so so subtle and so soft. You'll have Mexican Dinner #3. The opening is very floral and polarizing. I wonder why? It smells nice like flowers, good for any season but it has that little bit I wish wasn't there. I was surprised to see such a lengthy list of notes in the pyramid because on me none of them came thru but that initial sugary tuberose. I tested the scent many times before buying a full bottle. I give the scent a 5/10. But I think it's one of the best tuberose perfumes I've ever smelled. It didn't last on skin, though. The nuttiness from the chestnut comes through on my skin and the creaminess from the whipped cream is so, so lovely. So so delicious! Perfume lovers: 792,844 This perfume is so fascinating and unique. And this is just a beautiful scent! It works great on me in the hot humid weather of Hong Kong and I feel it is suitable for all seasons. I am not a huge fan of tuberose, it does not work well on my skin (it feels kind of overwhelming). It's a warm and sexy tuberose. Just like Black Orchid, it opens with a smack in the face - on this one it is Cypress and Pink Pepper, but - but it settles down into this creamy, nutty, floral yumminess. Im a huge fan of tuberose and this give a beach vibe to the flower along with corn tortillas. It's a creamy tuberose on steroids, just like the violet from Guerlain Insolence, A plain full of Tuberose and jasmineawesome. My first impression was that of Japanese rice paper, or perhaps a shoji screen. 120 Euros (and it was on sale!) Fantastic for the summer. So it's become a joke. Reading through the reviews, I am so relieved Orchid Soleil does NOT smell like corn tortilla on my skin! Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . The other one in my top 2 is Noir Extreme. Its my favourite perfume of all time and I am always complimented when wearing this - I do not get this with any other perfume. Stuff like Carnal Flower, Soleil Blanc, Frank Boclet Cocaine, the Bronze Goddess line, Versace Dark Crystal, D&G Light Blue Intense, etc. Simply ghastly. The first time I smelled this from a sample, I didnt think I liked it, but I kept the sample and kept testing it because it was so unusual. So chique yet youthful at the same time. My new love! Online right now: 2,262, Fragrantica in your language: This could easily be a signature scent and I see myself getting attached to this one. Franck Boclet Cocaine is very similar but colder scent than this one, this one has that creamy and warm feeling. It smells like someone took a fresh tuberose flower dipped it in vanilla rolled it in whipped cream and then sprinkled it with sugar then left it in the sun to heat up. Such a comforting, creamy tuberose-vanilla scent. Luxurious, sunny. Am I the only one feel this is like Tubereuse nue from TF? I hear it's been discontinued which really makes me angry. You either love this or you hate it. Too simple, too expensive. Being attracted to the bottle of this, read the comment and I just placed order online given it is discontinued. Some of the reviews are hilarious! I regret not having bought this fragrance the first time I came across it, which was at a Tom Ford counter. Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. This fragrance makes me a little sad. A bit too floral for me on first spray but I really appreciate the quality, like fresh deep flowers that I imagine sticking my nose into, and then the longer I wear it, the more I like it. I also smell the salty/sweaty skin scent others noticed, which I'm not usually too into, but it's not bad here. The drydown eventually smells like cumin and a dirty sort of cinnamon on my skin. This is the first perfume that I've ever smelled that made such a negative impression as to actually induce nausea. It cooks up in humid weather and lasts all day if you "sweat in it". This is not a safe blind buy!!!!! My first Tom Ford s fragrance. Eating sweet buttered corn in a floral garden while sitting on a brand new lawn chair that still has its "plasticky" smell. I love the way it lasts on my clothes and I cant stop sniffing them. Do not do it lol. I don't mind the opening because the drydown smells so yummy. Lilly is a welcome sidekick here, adding a salty milkiness without getting in the way of the tuberose. I think this is that popcorn/tortilla smell that other reviewers mention. The indolic fleshy tuberose balanced by a sweet and salty creaminess, evoking lustful images of salt on skin, and suntan lotion that I cannot get enough of . The best perfume I have ever purchased in my life! 01, Olympic Orchids Artisan Perfumes African Orchid. I feel sexy for this summer. I believe that what others are perceiving as tortilla, corn, popcorn I am perceiving as sand. This is my mum's signature, basically smells like alot of my childhood or childhood holidays. Worth every penny. This time I smell very strong realistic fleshy ripe tuberose with heavy cream and vanilla. I have got the same feeling as when I smelled Terracotta, but with this one, it is even more evident. This smells like mothballs got thrown into a bouquet of tuberose and a breeze came through carrying the smell of faint sun roasted chestnuts from a far distance. Recently i discovered that many perfumes I am not fond of has tuberose and as soon as I got home I came to check whats in it, and there is is: tuberose. Highly recommend!!! For me its definitely sexy, like in a way that reminds me of strippers I think its combination of strong sweet floral with the savory note giving kind of ultra feminine perfume worn over sweaty fake tan vibes. Heavier sillage and longer lasting. Better not to wear to office. This was such a huge disappointment for me being a fan of the Velvet Orchid, I just knew this was going to be spectacular judging by the bottle. It's as solar, bright and warm as it can be. Fragrance Reviews: 1,288,511 Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. I tested it quickly on paper in perfumery with others and I did not like it at all, I went my way but I tried again shortly after in a perfumery in Saint Tropez, I do not know why the bottle attracts me so much. I hop on Fragrantica and read: Corn Tortillas~ Thats it!! I really wish it wasnt discontinued, If anyone is looking to swap or sell their bottle please msg me . The first time I tried this I really disliked it, the florals just overwhelmed me. I can hardly make out anything else. Totally different to BO edp or BO parfum. It evokes suntans and heavenly tropical flowers. Really wish they took advantage of the chestnut and whipped cream notes. Highly recommended. My husband got the corn tortilla vibe from it. I like it in that the suntan vibe is a little more discreet. I also understand the corn tortilla comments; however I distinctly get more of a corn husk tamale wrapping aroma. If Fracas were imbued with bright golden rays of pure sunshine and chestnut scented whipped cream. I think when Orchid Soleil was launched in Athens, Greece, it was late spring. Went through 2 bottles. So, I can no longer smell this without getting nauseous. It was around $10 and is a literal dupe. It's a quality fragrance, well blended and a little goes a long way. You either love it or detest it. I sometimes really enjoy it other times its off putting. I was wrong. A little goes a long way. To make matters worse, this seems to be one of the brand's most disliked fragrances, and I too immediately hated it when I first sprayed it on. Blind bought a 50mL bottle (6 years old from what the batch code indicates) and I deeply regret my purchase. This is one of the best feminine fragrances among the Tom Ford line. I've never smelled anything like it. As time passes it starts to smell like a soda pop with traces of vanilla. @romymia yes it has been discontinued for quite some months now.get this lactonic white floral while you can.If you cant find it I can give you mine as it was a bit more feminine than i can tolerate;-). Despite it being a bold tuberose., this fragrance has persistent Indian curry vibes. Orchid Soleil smells considerably more interesting and attractive than Soleil Blanc. Smells like the sun came into your house after lying by the pool eating peaches and cream. I cant smell the tuberose, cinammon, cypress, but I do detect a bit of vanilla. It is green yet creamy. The composition opens with spicy notes of pink pepper, bitter orange and cypress. The chestnut cream scent is definitely there and gives it a lovely warmth. At the far drydown all the floral notes have burnt off and what remains is an accord reminiscent of waffle cones. Realistic orchid smell, takes me back to middle school, during the end of the school year, when I was waiting in line to offer orchids to our female teachers, wanting just to get it over with so I can go for orange juice with my classmates. Fades into a memory of something sweet and minty, with the skin note lingering along. After one hour the magic happens. Geez sounds terrible but its actually delightful. Trey Songz m, the pop American R&B singer just mentioned this fragrance in a GQ interview. Definately feminine. easy breezy, not literally smelling like a beach. It's a shame all of this talk about discontinuing this beauty, now I might have to reconsider holding onto the 100 ml I bought for my sister until I wait and see what the final verdict is. I'm grateful it's not the essence of a corn tortilla on my skin. I thought maybe I was crazy until I heard a girl at Sephora one time say she thought it smelled like taco chips. My boyfriend said this was his favorite and that it smelled like lean. I'm also really picky about tuberose. It's like you are wearing perfume on sun tanned skin. It is very subtle, white floral. Top notes are Cypress, Pink Pepper and Bitter Orange; middle notes are Tuberose and Red Lily; base notes are Whipped cream, Chestnut, Vanilla, Orchid and Patchouli. This is my third review of this perfume. However, as time has progressed since my purchasing it, I have grown a little tired of it on my skin. So strang and yet I love it. Im sure there are other stuff in this perfume I dont like cuz it really makes sick. Also major tortilla smell while its drying down. It's creamy, sweet and full bodied without being overpowering. I love it but it smells like buttered popcorn or tortilla chips. white, creamy, velvety lilly +tuberose combo. But let me get to the beginning.. It was just too much, too dense, too rubbery, too sweet - overwhelming was the word that came to mind. Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . This really smells expensive. I have found a $10 dupe. But a minutes after spraying on it took a bad turn. I'm a winter girl, but this perfume is the reason that makes me looking forward to summer. It's below zero right now in the dead of a midwestern winter. Perfect for summer nights. I think it's gorgeous. When I got a sample of Orchid Soleil with a purchase, I was sceptical to say the least. This is more of a late summer/fall evening fragrance, the vanilla and tuberose opening can be too much for sunny and hot days! Then the dry down with a bunch of ???? Fragrance Reviews: 1,287,666 It is in my top 2 TF fragrances. This is the best tuberose fragrance that I own so far. Loud yet soft. I can't understand the whole "popcorn" story over here, for me this perfume is unique! It's more like gardenia scent to me,straight from the begining to the end. I don't generally don't go by notes. <3. On others, like myself, it smells like if young summer lust in the flesh had a natural odor. If youre in the UK, SImplyBe have a few 100ml bottles on their website at the moment . Well smelling a million more perfumes after that has altered my sense of smell and my preferences. Because it is sweet, it might be very conforting for winter. It's a warm, delicious, creamy, almost coconut-y (the chestnut) comfortable summery experience. I love Velvet Orchid, I like Black Orchid but I do NOT like Orchid Soleil. This is definitely a summer version of black orchid! I guess its the tuberose but gardenia is one of my favorite flowers to smell in real life, and this smells just like it. Is that bad? This is a serious tuberose perfume in the same vein as Carnal Flower and even Hermes Twilly, and not just some summer flanker fling. Because I literally scrubbed this scent off only 30 mins after wearing it. This is sweeter than I expected, in the best possible way. Lily? Wear it if you want to smell like you spent a day in a hot stuffy kitchen making corn tortillas, spilled gasoline on yourself, then tried to cover it with a tuberose perfume. Ok, so I've tried this on a couple times at the store now and I can say that I only enjoy the this after it has sat on the skin for at least 15 minutes. Its smoky yet such a feminine floral scent. The opening is strong but very soon it settles into a scent that makes you think you have been to the beach. Well, now it is winter and I got a 100ml bottle as a gift. The first spray isn't very pleasant. It comes off kind of like a corn tortilla. Bonus: the sillage is intoxicating according to my husband. Smells exactly like homemade corn tortillas before its been cooked. I've worn this a total of 3 times and each time it's been different. Its thick, and creamy. Intriguing. LOVE. I cant make up my mind on this one. A beautiful tuberose knockout. When i wore it to office i dont think it was noticeable but i smelled it on me strong all day. I sprayed some on my wrist at a duty free shop today and I could not discern what the note(s) in this. As If it was Songes Goutals sister, minus the oily seeds. In fact, I found it pretty repulsive and I remember thinking how much I hate tuberose. On me, Orchid Soleil smells heavenly. I grew to love this scent. It was strong, chaotic and cloying. Marissa Zappas Announces A New Collection + A Giveaway. So I'm a couple hours in withthis, and thealmost too rich top and mid have faded. Longevity and sillage is great. I love ripe fleshy tuberose and this smells exactly like it! My only complaint is that I wish it lasted longer. I get the most beautiful gourmand scent ever. I get a huge frangipani note. I would have never bought it based off the notes, but the combination is amazing. The extended dry down is the best and smoothest white floral I've tried, but is only a skin scent. That being said I do really enjoy this fragrance. Orchid Soleil reminds me a bit of CD Pure Poison, but the tuberose and orchid notes are much stronger. But oh my stars, I just love this fragrance so much!!!!!!!! It strikes me at once as both avant garde and classic. I would have liked to persist longer because the smell is divine. Ever since someone said this reminds them of corn tortillas or tamales, that's literally all I can smell now when I try this on. However, I think tuberose lovers will be very pleased with this fragrance. I love the smell of Mexican food in my kitchen and at my table, and most definitely NOT in my perfume. My husband said he would choose me a scent that really suits me, something I've never had, smelled or considered having. I found a couple of bottles online and will continue to search for and buy any bottle I can get my hands on! Orchid Soleil is glamorous summer. Very heavy scent on me.. Ok so ordered a sample . It has been off the market for about 2 years now. in the air. I *love* the drydown, aggressively. Lasting power and projection is good . VERY sad is discontinued. I wasn't sure at first, but really falling in love with it, glad I blind bought a large bottle. and borrow it to;).. At first spritz I get knocked about with a HUGE lily and a cooler note that I think is the cypress and then more lily oh then more. the opening is a little feminin. I had to order this fragrance after nathan_jamesj's amazing review. This is the QUINTESSENTIAL LILY FRAGRANCE. Fracas is the slightly more proper older sister and Orchid Soleil is the bright, carefree, quasi-hippie sister with a flair for luxury. Others are in love immediately. This is a glorious, voluptuous fragrance! P.S. I am hoarding bottles of Orchid Soleil since this is destined to become a discontinued classic. I found it to be a very complex floral unlike any other. So good. If this smells this good on Northern winter, I can hardly wait summer. That mentholated opening is just intoxicating, and I think the quality for the price is hard to beat in terms of what it does. So it isn't just me!! Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. One might at first be apprehensive about a minty scent hanging around the nozzle. Is this in anyway unisex? In love with this perfume. Tuberose and mothballs. I've been complimented on it. | Deutsch | Espaol | Franais | etina | Italiano | | Polski | Portugus | | | Nederlands | Srpski | Romn | | | | |, Copyrights 2006-2022 Fragrantica.com perfumes magazine - All Rights Reserved - do not copy anything without prior written permission. On my skin, sweat and this do not work. you need to try it on your skinn if you are a guy.. after the 10-15 min this turns inn to one of the best unisex fragrances! Be careful - it's easy to spray too much. I don't know why I keep trying fragrances that have nut notes, especially chestnut, because I always end up hating them. I think it's better to wear it in spring/autumn. I have received many compliments especially from men wearing this. Straight gasoline in the opening which seems to last FOREVER by the way. Ive usually worn this as a summer fragrance. I really want a full bottle! I truly enjoy this one. This is a quintessential summer white beachy floral (why am I testing it in late September?!). The warmer and sweatier I am, the better it is. This has a dusty flowers aroma. It's something special, it does not remind me of anything similar, it's unique. It's a bold statement kind of a fragrance. The opening is very strong and rich that it can easily become intimidating to many! Just creamy rootbeer tuberose. I am for sure going to layer this with Bronze Goddess. I am devastated that this has been discontinued. I really really dislike 'beachy' scents - no coconut, no salt, nothing like that! This is an extremely complex fragrance, but it's Tom Ford so it's to be expected. Perhaps a visit to a museum in Japan or even some sort of rice dish. The lily plays second fiddle, however, to the tuberose background. Otherwise this is also bomb with pure vanilla scents - and terracotta guerlain! bottle of this for $30, so I decided to blind buy it. This was the most special perfume Ive ever had. Warm, nutty, creamy tuberose. Warm yet fresh. You must be careful about not using too much because this is strong stuff when first applied. This was not for me. I do like Orchid Soleil used with Black Orchid. It's off the market ( i.e unavailable) in the US. Could anyone tell me if this beauty has been discontinued? I'm starting to believe I will never find any other scent that makes me feel this way after years of sniffing every liquid (and plant, flower, fruit, or human I can get my nose on). Hate the opening, sth just doesn't mix well there. Don't judge it from the initial sniff, just wait for the good stuff at the dry down , Omgg it does smell like corn tortillas!!! I am laughing out loud at the comments about this smelling like Mexican dinner lol - I'm currently wearing this one. It was a blind buy. Not a safe blind buy though and it blooms during the summer. I must be the only person here who experiences poor longevity and sillage with this one. Love every stage of it and the dry down is to die for. Tuberose? Now upon trying it again, I really love it. Opening was a little offputting - it's a very bittersweet opening and even with the sweet candy notes it definitely doesn't smell fully gourmand or edible, which is a little arresting. This is my second Tom Ford and I'm definitely a fan of this style. Just sweet, warm tuberouse, lily and vanilla. I have been using it for 2 years and I think the notes of orchid, chestnut and whipped cream dominate. The initial spray smells like I'm in a heavily wooded cypress forrest on a beautiful sunny day. Has an amazing projection. This fragrance can be very offensive and someone can have a headache. There is a pungent note that I can not tolerate which is probably my own nose issue. Classy, edgy summer scent with "solar notes." It was in a physical store, but no tester. Orchid Soleil is a thick, creamy, fruity, floral, vanillic tropical fragrance. Some start that way and end up obsessed (me). I hate to write such a negative review but it was really so unpleasant and NOT a safe blind but. Tom Ford is that lady in a low cut dress with a smoky eye and stilettos while Aerin is a classy lady in a white linen dress and espadrilles. I just found this fragrance thanks to this website, and am beyond sad that it has been discontinued. The drydown does have an unexpected nuance of "tortillas" but I only detect this slightly. Orchid Soleil perfectly captures Tom Fords flair for eroticism. No regret on buying 100ml. So sad it's discontinued. It smells like u smoked and then plucked rose petals and brushed it against your fingers that smell like smoke. Lots of conflicting emotions with this one. It definitely has that vanilla cream soda vibe like velvet orchid carries through while still being dominantly white floral. In addition to the original, the editions of Velvet Orchid from 2014 and Black Orchid Eau de Toilette from 2015 are also available. No spiciness, no green notes, no woody. And yes, this frag does have lasting power. Orchid Soleil by Tom Ford is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. I thought it was a very strange smell, until it dries down. Smells exactly (and I mean exactly) like my Neofinetia falcata orchid when it blooms in the summer. Somehow medicinal to me. It screams LILY and whenever I'm wearing it someone compliments and some people who have a great olfactory memory even identify the lily notes in it. This smells nothing like the other fragrances from the Orchid line. I wish it was a big seller but alas, I cant picture any millenial girls pulling it off. I genuinely love this fragrance. Trust me, they are not at all similar. So,I bought the Yves Rocher to compare. Smells like a tropical night with someone you love. My wife loves the smell of tuberose, however, the way TF formulated this scent.
