Where in the world did you go that they were priced that high? On a recent trip I had to walk through a bad snow storm which left slush and deicing agents everywhere. Ive been wearing the President boots now for a couple of months, not long enough for a full review, but enough to give you some idea of what they offer. Started on Kickstarter a few years ago, Thursday Boot Company has a simple mission: We started Thursday to offer an alternative: ridiculously high quality footwear at honest prices that could handle our busy lives in New York City. I decided to go against the sizing as every shoe I have bought in a 10.5 has been proven to be too small. Luckily I guessed correct, and I would say that if you are new to leather boots, get something close to your normal dress shoe size, and order two pairs if you are on the fence about the sizing. I wear them nearly daily walking in downtown Chicago - no car. Thats pretty impressive! Hey man, sorry to hear that, but thanks for bringing to my attention. And that brings up something to think about, is it worth it to try to resole them or is it better to just replace them? The uppers of my boots are also heavily creased due to the fact that I did not use shoe trees in them, and also wearing them consecutive days in a row. (Steve had the opposite happen, where it recommended a size which ended up too large.) Much more than Dainite or Vibram Eton. When getting sized in the AE store, I asked the old salesman if my Thursday's were real Dainite soles and he answered, "No, those are Tuesday's sole". The designers hit the sweet spot with these boots, and the brown is a rich a vibrant dark brown that should age quite nicely. Id say they have done just that with the price range for all their shoes being $149 $265. I needed a pair of boots that were comfortable to stand in all day, keep my feet dry, had manageable traction in wet and snowy environments, and didnt look like a heavy pair of work boots like Timberlands.
Now for some notes on how these boots wore down throughout the past year. So I went a half size down with these Presidents, and I love their fit. They are an amazing purchase. Theres a lot of value in these boots not only from a price perspective but from a classic design, Goodyear welt, and comfort. These negative things really are not fair, as they mostly are complaining about Thursday differing from the promise of the Kickstarter campaign, and not on the actual quality of the boot. Been looking into getting these boots. What did you think about the sizing?? Overall, they are holding up well, but it is certainly too early to tell. Thanks! The rest of the boot is fine, but this also happened to one of their Captain boots (4 years old though). I have two pairs that will hit their 2 year mark in January. Topics include a wide range of brands from Crockett & Jones to Guidi. This led me directly to Thursday Boot Company. I have somewhat of a sentimental attachment to the brand, as my wife bought me the Captains and also it was my first "real" pair of GYW boots. So, I have about a years worth of wear on this pair of Thursday Presidents. However, the size calculator on the site encouraged me to order size 10.5, I have found the 11s fit me perfectly. With thin socks I definitely have heel slippage and stuff. Been on the fence about it, I think your review has convinced me its a worthwhile purchase. I ordered a half size down as recommended, but I dont know if i should gone a full size down or not? These boots have kept my feet happy and dry through so many terrible weather conditions, whether it be heavy rain, blizzards, walking through a foot of snow, my Thursdays have seen it all and are still going strong. I ordered their dress shoes too, and same thing, they run big. I priced it just to get an idea anyways, Id be looking at $50 for a vibram sole. But a few years on now, the consensus is: really solid boots at very fair pricing, with good customer service and longevity. I find that the poron and foam in the boots really help when you are on your feet all day when compared to other boots. I know some will complain about the synthetic materials in the midsole, or the lack of insanely high-quality leather, or the quality control issues of Thursdays. I ordered the President in Brown, size 11. By Steve Owens & Ben Brooks, Initial Impressions: Thursday Boot Company President, Natural vs. Synthetics for Tops and Bottoms. At that point it is definitely worth it to resole the boots instead of buy new ones. I thought they needed a resold so I brought them to the cobbler and he said dont come back until you tear the sole or something drastic, these look great. You can return/exchange your boots for free, assuming they show no visible wear. Out of the box these boots were very comfortable, so much so I had assumed I was doing something wrong. As for some of the more common issues that Ive seen people have with Thursdays, those being the boots clicking as you walk and the heel counter collapsing, Ive not experienced either of these issues. I expected my feet to hurt after a full work week of wearing these boots everyday, walking all around, but not only did my feet not hurt, but they werent even fatigued. I had a similar pair of Thursday for a couple of months before I got these, but they got replaced for free due to a problem with QC. Overall, my Thursday boots have been outstanding. You can buy thursday president seconds as well for $160ish. After my year in Thursdays, all I can say is that I am impressed. I am impressed, beyond what I expected. Even better, all of their shoes and boots are designed to be resoled. Thursday offers a lot of classic styles, and the President is as simple as they get. Ive also had the issue of the tongue of one of the boots does not like to sit straight, but that is common for boots that dont have gusseted tongues. For that price you can buy a new pair of Thursday's but, if the boots have value to you and you want to keep em going, I think it's fine. The boots held up impressively well, with the deicing agents used wiping off with a damp towel. I havent had the boots long enough to form a a definitive position on them, nor have I had them long enough to sort out what (if any) gotchas may lie ahead I will say I am planning on my next shoe purchase being another Thursday Boot. You can easily say that I am a fan of the products that Thursday Boot Company are making. I love my Thursdays. The boots I am reviewing here are $199 and offer a Goodyear welt construction which means you can resolve them when the time comes. Not once did my foot get fatigued, or have any hotspots. When I was inquiring about resoling my Thursday's it was gonna set me back about $220.
Thursday Boot Company is not an expensive company to buy a new pair of boots from, with only being slightly more expensive than a resole. I wanted to do a review of my Thursday Presidents because Ive worn these boots in a very unique way and Ive really put these things through the paces. It will save you a ton of hassle. I got a quote for $50 with a vibram sole. I don't think Thursday has ever claimed to use Dainite soles, at least as far as I know, but they're also not the only company that makes proprietary studded soles. I went on the search for a pair of boots to wear into the office everyday, and was lead down the dizzying array of boot offerings. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. If you get a new pair, you can alternate between the two, which would be especially useful for days when one gets soaked due to rain or snow. I will say after a year of heavy wear, I do need to start thinking about what is next for these boots. Like most people that buy Thursdays, I wore mine to work, but not at an office, and instead as a valet at a hotel. For the price I believe its a great bargain. Got them resoled with a vibram sole for 50 bucks and expect a good couple more years with them. As many of you will most likely know, Thursday Boot Company focuses heavily on the entry level, casual styled boot. In the next few days, I want to show everyone what has happened to one of the soles of my Thursday Presidents after moderate wear (every other day for a year). Dedicated to informing, teaching, and sharing. But the President's soles lasting only ~150 wears before CRACKING is extremely disappointing and I went ahead and bought a pair of AE Higgins Mills ($268 shipped) that will arrive in a few days. Love mine but the sole did give out, however after about a year of heavy wear. My captains have held up way better than I thought they would. The outsole is still solidly attached to the boot, except for on the front of the right boot where it has started to separate slightly. The subreddit about quality footwear. My first and only boot. I will also chime in. At $200, thats a pretty sweet deal. NOTE: where possible all product links on this site may earn the site money when you buy using those links. New product releases, daily discussion and community building with a common interest in quality footwear. Ultimately I settled on a pair of Thursday Boot Company President boots. We stand by our product and will be happy to take care of you if it's an issue on our end. Thursday does not channel their outsoles for the stitching, so the thread easily wears through. Theres a few criticism of the company out there: If you search around about this company you are going to hear negative things. ng k ny ng ngha vi chp thun chnh sch Bo Mt Ring T. Theyll keep a place along side some pretty high end boots in my rotation and for sentimentality sake they will get a full rebuild when its time. My problem is they dont make shoes wide enough to fit my cinder block feet. They have only gotten more comfortable since then, and I am very impressed with the comfort. You buy them online and they offer guidance on what you should buy as it relates to sizing and fit. I hate that type of caveat as it is extremely subjective. These boots broke in quickly and were comfortable the entire time. Also on the right boot, there was a small area where some of the stitching on the uppers started to come loose. Man that's a lot cheaper than I was thinking for the resole. At $200ish dollars their boots are not an insane value, which makes them compete with other established low cost offerings. They are immensely comfortable, almost right out of the box, and have really molded to my feet. And for a a shoe company those are not only low prices, but a very tight price range. I did worry these would initially fit fine, but stretch out and be too large. Unsurprisingly, the stitch that goes through the welt and to outsole has been worn through. They are really young so the warranty doesnt mean much yet. Nice review! It wasnt really in a structural area, and after snipping off the loose thread and singeing the remainder, there has been no other issues with that area. I work maintenance at a healthcare facility, so I need to look professional but be capable, and these sound like a great fit. I have no idea when or how, but it is no longer there. Ive posted about how I drug them through the rain and mud for a month straight and I really appreciate them for what they are. Yet that doesnt matter to me, Ive put less miles in proper running shoes with this job that havent stood up as well as my Thursdays, nor have been nearly as comfortable. Press J to jump to the feed. Those fears were unfounded and the boots have fit great the entire time. Since getting these boots, I have bought 6 more products from Thursday: 2 pairs of boots for myself, as well as a pair of their sneakers and a belt, and 2 pairs of boots for my girlfriend. A plus of the Thursdays was the fact that they put foam in the insole, something I found very important for running around in these boots. I broke them in by wearing them while working at home (I stand to work) wearing them for 4 hours the first day, waiting a full day, and then wearing them for another 8 hour day. During a day of work, I could easily cover 5 miles of running, all in a pair of boots. These boots are pretty special to me because they are somewhat my first pair of GYW boots. In his defense, their brand name was so worn down, he couldn't read it. That's sort of what I am afraid of cost wise. I also have a pair of Diplomats that I went a full size down for and they are just a little small, definitely when I have a thicker pair of socks on. I need to find a sole that has similar squish to it because I really like it. That sounds like a manufacturing defect, so if you can send photos to teamthursday@thursdayboots.com my team will be happy to take a look. I gotta tell ya. One interesting point of wear was that one of the nails of the heel stack did come out.
